How It Works

This simulation demonstrates how light intensity affects the rate of photosynthesis in aquatic plants like pondweed. Light intensity decreases with the square of the distance from the lamp. The oxygen bubbles are a for the photosynthetic rate.

The model used: I = (10/distance)^2; bubble production rate follows a saturating relationship rate = (Pmax * I)/(I + Ks). Randomness is applied to bubble timing assuming a Poisson process.
